Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
The Exceptions that your psychotherapist wants you to understand and discss are as follows
1. Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which your psychotherapist is required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately. 2. If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, your psychotherapist will want to help keep everyone safe, inlcuding you, and therefore must notify the police and inform the intended victim. 3. If a client intends to harm himself or herself, your psychotherapist will make every effort to enlist the client's cooperation in insuring safety. If a client declines to cooperate, your psychotherapist will take further measures (without further consultation) to help ensure safety.
