SOJOURNERS

As an outreach to the therapists in our area, we invite well-qualified therapists to affiliate with us as part of their continued personal and professional growth. Although their circumstances prevent them from full participation in our therapeutic community, they have been carefully screened for professional standards and compatibility with our mission. Over time, they become familiar with our therapeutic practice and can examine the Center's sense of corporate identity. Later, they may be invited and elect to join the therapeutic community with a full-time commitment to our work and vision.

Samera Sheikh
, M.A., LPC
Samera graduated with honors from New York University's Steinhardt School of Education. She has over 10 years of experience working with children and parents in individual and group counseling settings  addressing issues such as bullying, grief and loss, divorce, abuse, social skills, anger management, self-esteem issues, and academic concerns. The focus of Samera’s practice is on promoting positive dynamics within relationships which can include individuals, couples, parents, and children. Her philosophy is that our past, present situations, and future aspirations strongly influence our interactions with our environment.  As we evolve and confront challenges, it is crucial to recognize our past, adapt to our present surroundings, and modify our perceptions and behavior so we may reach our full potential.  Samera’s aim is to work with each of her clients and assist them in exploring emotions, developing positive methods of communication, and enhancing the foundations that will support life-long relationships and improve the overall quality of life.
